A Tarlac Uniform from Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)

The Tarlac were a primitive race that appeared in the Star Trek: Insurrection feature film as the indentured servants to the more powerful “Son’a”. This jumpsuit contains a tag with the names Patrick Barnitt and Brian Avery boldly handwritten on tag. Avery is credited as a Tarlac officer in the film.

One of Brian Avery’s stunt scenes in Star Trek: Insurrection was cut from the final aired film, a thirty foot high fall from a cliff, but included in the Star Trek: Insurrection (Special Edition) DVD feature “Anatomy of a Stunt”.

The Tarlac uniform consists of a one-piece jumpsuit of purple velvet with panels of crushed velvet accented with rubber banding and two panels of metal ribbed side armor with black vinyl pads that attach to jumpsuit with Velcro.

The metal ribs are mounted on silver vinyl.

The costume was designed by Sanja M. Hays. Prior to her work on Star Trek: Insurrection, she designed the costumes for such films as Spaced Invaders, Independence Day and the Marvel Comics-based vampire hit Blade.  Milkovic Hays is currently working as Costume Designer on the sequel Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin.
